Our Needs

The members of Genesis Christian Church are a family of faith searching for a permanent place to worship. God has placed a tremendous vision on our hearts to reach the people of Tamarac, Margate, Lauderhill, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek and surrounding areas.

Lack of a Permanent Facility for our Church

2004

Genesis Christian Church began worshipping in rented space. As our membership grew, we found ourselves in the market to purchase a permanent place to worship.

2010

We purchased a building that appeared to be an ideal space for our growing church. It had been used partially for a banquet business, which we gradually phased out.
City zoning changes after the purchase required over $2 million in renovations in order to be permitted as a church.
We did not acquire the necessary permitting resulting in the devastating loss of our facility. Our membership declined and we prayed this would be a temporary setback.

2019

Today, we celebrate our services in Margate in a rented facility. And, though a blessing, this was only intended to be a temporary arrangement.

Worship Space

  • The Margate worship space is only available for two-hours on Sundays for worship and three hours on Friday evenings for Youth Ministry.
  • Our  monthly lease for twenty hours per month is $9,288.
  • 20 hours per month extremely limits what we, as a church, can offer our members and community.
  • Other churches also use the Margate facility, making it very noisy at times.
  • Trying to use the landlord’s audio-visual equipment is difficult and often interferes with worship time.
  • Building maintenance, specifically cleanliness, is lacking at times.

Fellowship

We hold larger fellowship events off campus which requires transporting all necessary equipment and competing for rental space in the community.

Meeting Space

  • The absence of meeting space keeps us from doing God’s work and serving our community.
  • Small groups must meet in our congregants’ homes and all our service ministries have had to be suspended for lack of facilities.
  • One of our growth services, “Fresh Start,” that nurtures and provides educational support to troubled teens in the city is on hold.
  • A small group that visits the elderly in nursing homes is on hold.
  • Our Center for Growth and Development that executed several of our key community ministry initiatives such as after school tutorials and college prep is on hold.

Administrative Offices

  • While we worship in Margate, our administrative offices are in Tamarac, which does not offer opportunities to engage our members and visitors.
  • The office only provides space for Pastor Facey and our Church Administrative Assistant.
  • Other staff members and volunteers must work remotely from home.

Storage

  • A small space within the administrative offices stores worship, meetings, and events items, but is inadequate to meet our needs.
  • Our first facility’s remaining items are stored in a rented storage unit.
  • The $605 monthly storage unit fee is costly and could be used for other ministry purposes.
