Our Plans

Remodeling our narthex and west entrance will create a more welcoming first impression and an enticement to enter St Michael Church.

Lighting: the narthex and west entrance will get new, brighter lighting.
Walls, Floors, & Ceilings: the ceilings and floors will be replaced and the walls patched and painted.
Baptistry: a new marble baptismal font will be placed at the foot of the bell tower – the original church entrance. Positioning the font in the narthex will symbolize our journey into Christ’s kingdom that begins with Baptism.

Repositioning the Sanctuary under the dome will restore the focal point of our worship space under the light and soaring height of the dome.

Fire Protection

Sprinklers & Standpipe: a fire protection standpipe and attic sprinkler system will be added.
Lighting: a new, cool LED light system will improve illumination and decrease fire hazard.
Lighting Effects: appropriate spotlighting features will highlight our altar and sanctuary.
Pillar Restoration: updating our pillar lights will allow us to remove the metal troughs that house the lighting on the pillar tops and repair and repaint the ornate capitals to restore them to their original beauty.

HVAC
Air Conditioning: our existing air handling system will be updated with air conditioning along with necessary electrical panel upgrades.

Sanctuary: the Sanctuary will be moved back to position a new altar, ambo, and presider’s chair directly under the dome. A new crucifix will be suspended, and our new lighting features will illuminate and highlight the area.
Reredos (backdrop): behind the altar a new wall will support the reredos and our freshly re-gilded
Last Supper mural.
Shrine: right of the altar will be a new Shrine to the Blessed Mother or Holy Family with votive candles.
Choir: the choir will move onto the main floor.
Liturgical Standards: the Sacristy with be improved with a Sacrarium that meets liturgical standards and secure storage

Stained-Glass Windows: skilled craftsmen will repair, re-lead and clean our beautiful and valuable stained-glass windows.
Pews: refinished, solid oak pews, that we acquired from a closed church, will be installed.
Walls: all damaged plaster will be repaired and the walls painted.
Flooring & Audio: new, hard-surface flooring and an upgraded speaker system will be installed for improved acoustics.
Reconciliation Chapel: this reverential space will be refurbished and brightened.
