Our Needs

Improvements, Maintenance & Funding

Facilities

Safety & Security
The safety and security of our facilities and members are increasingly important. Yet, improvements are still needed, as illustrated by the November 2022 break-in.

  • We do not have an access system to control visitor's building access.
  • We lack motion-sensor lights and cameras to deter potential intruders and record activities in and around our buildings and grounds.
  • We don't have an off-hours security alarm or video surveillance system to dissuade future break-ins or other property assaults that would strengthen our sense of security.

Sanctuary Flooring
Our church sanctuary's beautiful terrazzo floor is dulled due to time and continued use.

Parking Lot

  • Our 25-year-old parking lot has unsightly and unsafe cracks and potholes.
  • The faded striping doesn't maximize our off-street parking capacity.

 Tuckpointing Maintenance

  • Our exterior brick walls and treasured stained-glass windows are susceptible to water damage because areas of mortar, stonework, coping, and flashing are cracking, chipping or have fallen out entirely.
  • This could lead to more expensive problems like stained-glass window or interior damage.

Elevator Pit Maintenance

  • Our elevator pit has a sump pump but during heavy rains, water infiltrates to the point that it cannot perform. This damages the elevator's electrical system.
  • Elevator electrical problems are concerning because we rely on the elevator to make all levels of our church facility accessible to all.

Audio-Visual Equipment & Wi-Fi Systems

Sound System

  • Our worship space's old sound system does not project sound clearly. This makes it hard to clearly hear words and songs both in person and online. We cannot capture the spirit of our worship services and engage our sick, homebound, and digital community.
  • The sound system is based on old analog technology that has reached its lifespan and is no longer upgradeable or supported by many tech companies.
  • We also have different sound systems upstairs and downstairs, which means our staff and volunteers need to know how to effectively operate each type of system.

Video Camera

  • For live streaming, we have only one camera to use for both our sanctuary and fellowship hall worship services.
  • This one camera and corresponding wires and adapters must be set up, torn down, and moved - plugging in and unplugging -   for each of our worship services. So, instead of being able to go to Christian Education classes or greet newcomers, our volunteers and Pastor spend time between services moving the camera equipment. This can sometimes cause the second service to start late because the equipment isn’t completely set up and ready to live stream.

Video Projector

  • Our sanctuary's old video projector doesn’t clearly project scripture readings, song lyrics, images, or videos due to inadequate lumens (brightness) and the over-abundance of natural light from the stained-glass windows.
  • It is difficult to see and follow what is projected which prevents people from actively engaging in our worship services.

Wi-Fi System

Our Wi-Fi service and internet accessibility, especially in the Fellowship Hall and Education Wing, is not always reliable and has spotty connectivity.

Missions & Ministry Fund

Our Edgebrook church and area communities are full of people who are broken, hurting, and searching for help and healing. As a church, we pride ourselves on being a helping community for everyone and especially those in need.

  • We are unable to increase our ministries to our members and neighbors due to our limited regular annual budget funds.
  • We have an endowment that was created to fund our mission and ministry. The endowment, however, is no longer fully funded because there have been times we needed to dip into it for operating expenses.
