Our Solutions

The three key focuses of Our Together in Faith @ First campaign plans will keep our First Lutheran Church home strong and improve it for the future. Accomplishing these together will support our ability to build a meaningful community, launch life-changing ministries, and extend Christ’s love far beyond our walls.

FACILITIES & GROUNDS

Water Damage, Restrooms, Sidewalks, Parking Lots, & Playground
$375,000

The building's completed leak and water damage project included repairing and reroofing the sanctuary, resealing the skylight (work still remains), mitigating and repairing the office ceiling mold problem, and repairing any water damage to the sanctuary’s exterior and interior.

Our restroom plans will extend First Lutheran’s welcome by offering convenient and respectful facilities. The public restrooms in the north wing will undergo comprehensive remodeling to make them modern, spacious, accessible, clean and easy to use for families with small children and people of all abilities. The Narthex restroom updates will feature improved flooring, vanity/counter and paint.

Our plans to improve our grounds will make visiting our church safer, more inviting, and provide well-maintained facilities for years to come. The parking lot will have its damaged sections replaced and all of the asphalt sections repaired and resealed.

All remaining damaged sidewalks and walkways will be repaired and a new concrete parking pad will be installed in front of the maintenance shed.

Looking ahead, plans are being considered to install a new playground on the north side of the church building. This dedicated play area will become a vibrant space where children can play, connect with friends, and enjoy time outdoors. It will also offer parents confidence in knowing their children are nearby in a safe place. Providing a family-friendly facility will enrich our entire church community, enabling everyone to better focus on worship, prayer, and fellowship whenever we gather.

Wednesday evenings at First Lutheran are family nights that start with food, transition to learning, and conclude with worship. They, along with our other children and youth ministries, are a vibrant aspect of our faith community.

PASTORAL LEADERSHIP

Pastor Needed
$50,000

First Lutheran Church recognizes the urgent need to call and welcome a new pastor to shepherd its congregation and strengthen its ministry in Algona. With pastoral shortages affecting many churches across the Synod, we need to take proactive steps to help fund the recruitment and relocation costs associated with a pastoral call. It is challenging us to think creatively about leadership models while continuing to pray for and support those discerning a call to ministry.

This amount will ease the burden on the Synod as well as demonstrate First Lutheran’s commitment to vibrant, Spirit-led leadership. This investment reflects our belief that full-time pastoral guidance is essential for spiritual growth, community outreach, and the future of First Lutheran’s church family.
