Our Needs

Entrance & Exterior

Our main entry does not give the welcoming first impression that we would like to offer our community.

  • The exterior facia with our church name is dated and cracked.
  • The steps are cracked, crumbling and make access to our church difficult.
  • The foyer and welcome space are small, do not foster fellowship before and after worship, or provide service, ministry and event information.
  • Our parking lot is crumbling, uneven, and rough, and the basketball court is rarely used due to its poor condition.
  • Our exterior signage (both electronic and wayfinding) needs safety and security upgrades, looks dated, and is not welcoming.
  • Our dumpster location and visibility create an eyesore.

Epiphany Center

The Epiphany Center is used more than it was designed for because it is more accessible than the Fellowship Hall and kitchen, which have stairs.

  • The parking lot’s southwest door is not wheelchair accessible, which is a safety issue and an inconvenience.
  • The outdated gym has become a storage catch-all.
  • The carpet is badly stained despite being regularly cleaned.
  • The restroom under the LYO loft is outdated and is inaccessible because of steps and stalls.
  • The LYO loft also is not accessible to youth with mobility challenges, as it requires going up a flight of stairs.
  • The kitchen is used much more than it was designed for and is worn out, has residential-grade appliances, and inadequate storage.
  • The interior doors between the main entry and Epiphany Center are heavy, industrial-looking, and are not intended for interior use.

Our facility has numerous shortcomings with regard to modernization, technology, accessibility, infrastructure, maintenance, and safety and security – both inside and outside the building.

Upper Level West Wing

The West Wing’s upper level is heavily used due to our Adult Christian Care (ACC) program and church offices.

ACC Area, Accessibility & Meeting Room

  • This is an older part of our building and it has many infrastructure and accessibility challenges.
  • The south entrance exterior is crumbling and needs to be repaired.
  • The outdated restrooms are not fully accessible.
  • The west (Hillside) and south (parking) entry doors are challenging for wheelchair access.
  • There is no air conditioning for the library, music office, and nursery.
  • The meeting rooms do not provide adequate technology tools for the internal and external groups who need them.

Lower Level: Sunday School & Fellowship Hall

Sunday School Area

  • The space is ample but lacking in technology, a modern aesthetic, and accessibility.
  • The absence of an elevator makes it impossible to accommodate a child in a wheelchair and difficult for a child on crutches.
  • The classrooms are bland, uninviting, and lack the technology to use current Christian education and enhanced learning techniques.
  • A section of the lower level is not air conditioned.

Fellowship Hall

  • The lack of an elevator to access our lower level severely reduces the use, function, and welcome of our Fellowship Hall. Therefore, this large social space sits unused most of the time.
  • Because of the stairs, some people cannot get down to this space, find stairs unsafe or avoid it and our very old single chair lift.
  • Lower level restrooms are not wheelchair accessible.
  • The lower level kitchen’s old range and hood pose a fire safety risk.

Infrastructure

Maintenance, Safety, & Security

  • Many windows are inefficient single pane, and some are safety concerns.
  • Our old fire alarm system no longer effectively protects our facility.
  • The flat roof is old, beyond repair and untrustworthy to prevent water, ice, and mold damage.
  • Some foundation areas need water management and weatherproofing to prevent water damage like we previously incurred.
  • Our sump pump does not have any back-up power, putting us at risk for lower level building damage.
  • The building’s electrical service and main panel are old and insufficient.
  • Our Wi-Fi network capabilities do not support our facility’s size and use.

Sanctuary

Our striking sanctuary has many beautiful elements; however, many issues get in the way of, as opposed to, enhancing our worship.

  • Our audio-visual system is old and ineffective. The screen is small, clunky, difficult to use, and not aesthetically appealing. Our projector is not integrated into the space, and our sound board is antiquated.
  • The old entry doors cannot accommodate wheelchairs well, and they lack the welcoming impression we seek to show.
  • Our flooring and furniture are worn out after thousands of services.
  • Our beautiful organ still needs some upgrades to keep up appropriate ongoing maintenance of such an instrument and investment.
