Our Needs

Infrastructure Improvements

Our building is over 50 years old and some of its infrastructure requires immediate attention.

Brick & Mortar Repair
Our building’s crumbling mortar (tuck pointing) on the exterior brick has allowed water penetration and caused extensive interior damage. Continuing leakage and damage will become increasingly expensive to repair.

Window Replacement
Our old, single-paned windows’ energy inefficiency and associated costs is staggering. In addition, stress on the windows caused by tuck-pointing needs has caused many cracked or broken windowpanes. The windows facing the parking lot are in the worst shape, including the large two-story “store front” windows facing the stairs. All of these damaged or inefficient windows need to be replaced.

Improved HVAC System
Our almost 30-year-old heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system is nearing the end of its useful life. It is constantly in danger of quitting, has many pinpoint leaks, is not cost or energy efficient and inadequate for our size building. It also lacks duct work for adequate, even and efficient zone heating.

Church Facility Improvements

Expanded Entryway
In our cottage meetings, strong sentiment was expressed to enlarge our narthex and sanctuary vestibule. This small entryway narrows much like a funnel, ultimately allowing only one member or visitor at a time to pass through it. This is awkward, especially for couples, families, and those using walkers and wheelchairs.

Expanded Café Space
Our small café space limits our ability to gather outside the sanctuary, connect as individuals and build an even stronger sense of community. Having an extended gathering space on the main level would allow us to better host guests during special events like confirmations, baptisms, and funerals.

New Main Floor Restrooms
We lack a main level family restroom and have only two, single toilet, cold-water-only restrooms in the Sunday School Wing. These are not easily accessible to people with a walker or a wheelchair, is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and is an affront to our church community’s sense of fairness and friendliness.

New East Wing Emergency Exit
Building codes requires that we create another emergency exit in the East Wing. This is a prudent safety measure for those who use our staff offices and chapel lounge.
