Our Needs

Education Wing Improvements

A New Daycare Center. Our education wing’s multiple class and meeting rooms are mostly unused aside from our youth and family education’s Ignite program. Yet over 2,000 community children and their families need quality, Christian-values-based daycare and preschool programs. We have the space but don’t offer this.

Updated Fire Alarms & New Fire Sprinkler System. Our education wing lacks a fire alarm or sprinkler system in violation of daycare building codes and that puts this area and those using it in danger in the event of a fire.

Central Air-Conditioning. Our fellowship hall has central air conditioning, but the education wing has aging and inefficient window-mounted air conditioners. These don’t consistently cool, making using the rooms on warm weather days virtually impossible from a comfort standpoint.

Upper-Level Restrooms Improvements. Some classroom sinks and restrooms are outdated and the few upstairs, main restrooms are not large enough and not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Daycare Entrances & Exits. Our education wing doesn’t have readily accessible entrances and exits. This makes it inconveniently far from our main entrance and a safety concern for emergency exits. Our hoped-for daycare center will be a separate part of the church and needs its own entrance.

Corridor Barriers to Regulate Access. It is a safety concern that we can’t securely close off our education wing because of the multiple open access ways from inside our church facility.

Dedicated Daycare Playground Area. Our outdoor play and recreation space is not a well laid-out, dedicated, or appropriately equipped daycare playground.

Other Needed Improvements

Daycare Director’s Office.  We lack a main level office for staff members to work and monitor who enters and exits this section of our building.

Lower-Level Restrooms. The lower-level classrooms' restrooms and sinks are not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act  codes.

Daycare Center Covered Drop Off. Education Wing visitors must walk a fair distance and enter from the street or parking lot. This is difficult in poor weather, inconvenient, and dangerous, especially for children.

New Education Wing Elevator. From the sidewalk to the upper floors, access to all education wing levels requires using stairs. This is very difficult for people with mobility issues and those pushing baby strollers or carrying little ones. It is also against current DHS requirements.

New Education Wing Boiler. We can no longer get replacement parts for the education wing and fellowship hall boiler that dates from 1970. It is failing, no longer heats adequately, and is potentially dangerous – boilers are volatile systems containing very hot water or steam under high pressure. There can be dangerous hot water or steam leaks or an explosion that could cause serious injuries, death, and catastrophic damage.

Expanded Church Entryway. Our west wing church entrance steps do not provide safe, easy access for the elderly, those with mobility issues, and those with walkers or wheelchairs, especially in inclement weather. Also, the north, main worship facility door is not easily accessible because it is small, narrow, and not automatic.

Covered Church Drop Off Area. Our church’s main entrance does not have a convenient covered drop off. Rather, members and visitors must walk from the street and parking lot no matter what the weather.
